The Department of Digital Media, Radio, and Television at An-Najah National University hosted, via Zoom, media professional Walid Al-Basat from the German broadcaster DW, in an interactive session with students enrolled in the Radio and Television Presentation Arts course. The session was held under the supervision of Dr. Alaa Jumaa, Professor of Digital Media at the Faculty of Business and Communication.
The meeting aimed to enhance students’ skills in radio and television presentation and to connect them with the international media labor market. During the session, Al-Basat shared his professional experience in Arab and international television institutions, addressing news bulletin preparation methods, on-camera performance techniques, and the importance of voice, body language, and vocal modulation in effectively delivering media messages.
Al-Basat also provided a range of practical tips on preparing news bulletins, managing anxiety during live broadcasts, and coordinating teamwork within the newsroom.
Mr. Faisal Saleh, Head of the Department, contributed with an intervention on intercultural communication in media, emphasizing the importance of journalists’ awareness of audience diversity and cultural differences when shaping media content.
The session concluded with remarks by Dr. Alaa Jumaa, who stressed that success in journalism depends on discipline, continuous practice, and openness to international experiences, noting that the Faculty seeks to expand such cooperation through specialized applied workshops in television media.
