The Faculty of Business and Communication at An-Najah National University hosted Dr. Edward Brennan from Technological University Dublin on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, as part of the Public Opinion course activities in the Department of Communication and Digital Media, supervised by Ms. Haya Arandi.

During the session, Dr. Brennan delivered a rich academic lecture addressing media and journalism theories, the relationship between public opinion and social media, and the concept of polysemy in media messages. He also discussed the importance of cultural and social differences in interpreting digital media content, as well as the role of audiences in interacting with media messages through acceptance, opposition, or negotiation. He emphasized that understanding media requires reading cultural contexts and symbolic meanings.

The session saw notable interaction from students, who raised questions about the formation of public opinion, the mutual influence between audiences and media, and the importance of analyzing symbols and visuals as tools for understanding modern media messages.

At the end of the meeting, Ms. Haya Arandi expressed her appreciation for Dr. Brennan’s participation, noting that the visit provided a valuable opportunity for students to learn from international academic expertise.

This hosting comes as part of the faculty’s ongoing efforts to strengthen international academic cooperation and enhance communication with leading experts and universities worldwide.
