Dr. Suha Sabouh and implemented as part of the requirements of the Ceremonies, Protocol, and Etiquette course.

This applied experience aimed to train students in organizing official events and film festivals according to professional standards that simulate real-world practice. It included the application of protocol and etiquette rules in guest reception, precedence arrangements, event segment management, and official speech writing, reflecting an advanced level of organizational and communication competence among public relations students.

The program featured a comprehensive simulation of a humanitarian film festival opening, starting with reception and welcoming ceremonies, followed by the organization of official speeches, and concluding with the screening of selected humanitarian films addressing themes of memory, identity, justice, and human dignity, highlighting the role of cinema as a tool for awareness, documentation, and social impact.

The event also included a symbolic awards ceremony in which six cinematic awards were presented to selected films. The awards carried humanitarian and cultural titles and connotations that reflected the message of the “Athar” Festival and embodied the values that humanitarian cinema seeks to promote, in an educational experience that combined academic, cultural, and artistic dimensions.

In her opening remarks, Dr. Suha Sabouh welcomed the attendees, praising the students’ efforts and level of professional commitment. She emphasized the importance of applied education as a fundamental pillar in preparing public relations students and equipping them for the labor market. She noted that this simulation represents a model of practice-based learning that allows students to experience professional roles in a realistic environment and develop their skills in organization, communication, and event management.

For his part, the Head of the Public Relations and Communication Department, Dr. Qassem Amer, expressed his pride in the department’s students, commending the professional and organizational level they demonstrated during the simulation. He affirmed that such applied experiences represent a key milestone in building students’ professional identities and enhancing their self-confidence and capabilities.

Meanwhile, Ms. Yasmin Shahrour, Director of the Communication Unit, emphasized that this event will remain memorable for students, noting that such applied days are an integral part of the university experience and contribute to refining skills, fostering passion for the profession, and shaping students’ professional and humanitarian awareness.

The event was attended by a number of faculty members from the College of Business and Communication, who reviewed the outcomes of the educational experience and praised the level of organization and the students’ ability to employ theoretical knowledge within an integrated practical context.

This activity reflects An-Najah National University’s and the College of Business and Communication’s commitment to supporting applied educational initiatives and promoting experiential learning, contributing to the preparation of graduates who possess professional competence and practical readiness to engage in the fields of public relations, communication, and event management with a high level of professionalism.
