Theme: “Building Sustainable Economies: Knowledge, Innovation, and Digitization in the Middle East and North Africa”
On Wednesday, May 7, 2025, An-Najah National University launched the Seventh Refereed Scientific Conference of the Faculty of Business and Communication, held under the above theme at the Martyr Zafer Al-Masri Auditorium on the Old Campus.
The conference, held amid rapid global changes, focuses on the role of digitization, innovation, and knowledge as essential elements in building adaptive and sustainable economies.
Attendees included prominent officials and academics such as H.E. Eng. Mohammad Al-Amour, Minister of National Economy; Dr. Samer Salama, Deputy Minister of Labor; Prof. Abdul Nasser Zaid, President of An-Najah National University; and Dr. Raafat Al-Jallad, Dean of the Faculty and Conference Chair, alongside representatives of financial institutions, private-sector leaders, and university faculty and students.
In his opening remarks, Dr. Al-Jallad stressed that digitization is no longer a choice but an economic and strategic necessity, noting that the conference seeks to explore how emerging technologies can enhance efficiency and sustainable growth.
Prof. Zaid affirmed that the conference aligns with the university’s strategic vision toward a knowledge-based economy and global academic excellence. He highlighted the university’s international achievements, including ranking among the top 300 universities worldwide in the Times Impact Rankings and 103rd globally in the Green Universities Ranking. He also reviewed initiatives such as establishing a Faculty of Artificial Intelligence and restructuring the An-Najah Innovation Park.
The Minister of National Economy praised the university’s role in fostering dialogue across sectors and outlined government efforts to improve the legislative and investment environment, support entrepreneurs, and establish university-based innovation centers.
The opening session concluded with recognition of the event’s sponsors—the Palestine Islamic Bank, Palestine Investment Fund, and Tamkeen Insurance Company—for their vital role in supporting this academic initiative.
The second day (Thursday, May 8, 2025) featured specialized research sessions with scholars from Palestinian and Arab universities, addressing topics in digital transformation, innovation, entrepreneurship, and sustainable education.
