Vision
The Department of Finance is mindful of the key role which the University plays in the development of productive citizens and future professionals, of the contributions of the Faculty and students to the generation of new knowledge and of the impact which it has on multiple levels of the society and community. Our vision is to see the Department as part of larger School of Economics and part of larger societal systems, dynamically fueled by different processes of involvement: involvement in world affairs; involvement in the needs of individuals and their communities, businesses, industries and governments; involvement in the nurturing of inquisitive minds; involvement in the transfer of ideas from the University to the Market Place; and, in the involvement of societal problems found in our towns, cities and in the Region.
Mission
The mission of the Department of Finance and Banking evolves around the maintenance of a quality Finance Department. Thus, the instructional mission of the Department of Finance is to educate individuals who will become leaders of private and public organisations in addition to helping students acquire the most modern concepts in the field of Finance and to be able to serve different types of organisations. These organisations include banks, insurance companies and all other types of business organisations in the Finance field.
With this in mind, the mission of the Department is to enhance the ability of the students in the field of Finance so that they will be able to serve our community, as well as the Arab communities. The Department will apply the most modern concepts in Finance and Banking to meet national, regional and local needs and to enable students of the Department to develop their capacity to learn. The Department will prepare its students for employment and higher education and to be the next professional leaders in the society in areas of outreach, teaching and research, through the instruction of very capable teachers and with the use of the most modern means of technology.
Objectives
Faculty staff are involved in considerable studies which are directly related to the administrative, economic and social problems in the Palestinian area. They also participate in numerous academic conferences, workshops and seminars inside and outside the Country. The Department has the following objectives:
Enrollment at the Department
To be a student in the Department of Finance and Banking, the student must pass the two courses of 'Introduction to Finance' and 'Principles of Accounting (1)' with a grade point average of more than 70% for each of these courses. Acceptance in the Department is at a competitive basis for these qualified applicants according to the capacity of the Department.
Students must also note that this is in addition to passing the introductory courses offered by the School of Economics & Administrative Sciences.
